How does just one out of service plane cause so much trouble for a major airline?? But it worked mostly in our favor, so no complaints this time around.

Airline Status Matters For Some People But Most Of Us Should Just Ignore It
Written by joeheg @ Your Mileage May Vary
When you think about frequent flyer programs, you need to separate the two functions they serve. One part of the program is where you earn points by flying with the airline (or by having a co-brand credit card, transferring miles from a flexible curren…
DLD 263: A Hong Kong connection
Written by Seth Miller @ Wandering Aramean
With 4.5 hours to connect in Hong Kong there are a few options on the table. Sure, the first class lounges call, but a quick trip into town to chat with a friend can also be a smart play.

DLD 258: Some LaGuardia Love
Written by Seth Miller @ Wandering Aramean
No, really, some love for the old LaGuardia leads off this week’s show. Plus some new plane types, strike compensation and a mistake connecting in Cairo.

Fly for the food, stay for the company, collect (or burn) some points along the way. Just a quick weekend trip to Hong Kong and Beijing from the USA, because we can.

Fozz almost got stuck in Berlin this weekend, but quick thinking saved the day. Also, errors bring lawsuits, The ME3 are all sorts of crazy and purple is coming to Delta’s uniforms.

Lufthansa wins big against “Error Fares”
Written by Seth Miller @ Wandering Aramean
Don’t use the words “Error Fare” when talking about great bargains. That’s the message handed down this week by a German court. Lufthansa doesn’t like that phrase and the courts seem to agree.

United Status Matched Me to 1K!
Written by Kyle Stewart @ Live and Let's Fly
I have previously noted that American Airlines has gutted their Advantage frequent flyer and because of that I am leaving American. Loyalty is a two-way street and American has worked hard to make it a one-way street, well I’m not riding any more. But of course that decision was reached only after I had already […]

Paris Marathon 2015 – AA Chicago First Class Lounge and Flight to Paris Since I was American Airlines Executive Platinum and flying internationally, I am able to use the Flagship First Class Lounge in Chicago. Note that it is not an Admirals Club. It is available for First Class passengers or American Airlines Executive Platinum passengers flying internationally on Oneworld. It is located at the end of the K terminal near Gate K19. It is a small lounge, but due to its free food selection, it is the better lounge at Chicago for American Airlines passengers. It is mainly geared for Japanese customers since it is located next to the gate for the flights to Tokyo. [2015-Paris-Marathon] The lounge is smaller than the rest of the lounges since it is geared for First Class passengers, but it can get crowded from the flight..

Paris Marathon 2015 – American Airlines Admirals Club LaGuardia So earlier in 2014, I unknowingly signed up for an early drawing for the Paris Marathon. I thought I was entering into a free entry to the Paris Marathon but I found out weeks later that I had gotten in and that it was just a drawing for a slot to run it. I thought about it for a few days before signing up (and paying) for the marathon. Sometime in October before the race in April 2015, I saw a deal on The Flight Deal to Paris, but it originates out of Newark. I tried to price it out of Boston but it was substantially higher so I bought the ticket out of Newark. I was going to be there for a week anyway and I would need to take..
