Southwest seems to be having two sales:
- California only sale: Fares from $29.
  - Book by 9/27. Nonrefundable. Seats, travel days, and markets limited. 21-day advance purchase required. Blackout dates apply. Continental US travel valid 10/17/2017 – 2/14/2018 and international travel valid 10/17/2017 – 2/14/2018. Points bookings do not include government fees from $5.60 per one-way flight.
- Nationwide sale: Fares from $39
  - Book by 9/28. Nonrefundable. Seats, travel days, and markets limited. 21-day advance purchase required. Blackout dates apply. Continental US travel valid 10/17/2017 – 05/23/2018, international travel valid 10/17/2017 – 12/13/2017 and 1/9/2018 – 3/1/2018, travel to/from San Juan, Puerto Rico valid 10/17/2017 – 12/7/2017 and 1/16/2018 – 3/1/2018. Points bookings do not include government fees from $5.60 per one-way flight.

I like to post the Southwest sales as the award tickets are tied to the cash value of each ticket. There is also a 60,000 point bonus on all three Southwest credit cards currently, obviously you won’t have points in time for this sale but they are frequent.
