IHG Rewards Club and Mr & Mrs Smith (independent boutique hotels) announced a loyalty partnership in 2019 that was going to become active in early 2020 (read more here).
A LoyaltyLobby reader alerted us that some Mr & Mrs Smith properties had become visible on IHG rate search but without any cash or point requirements.

According to the IHG spokesperson, Mr & Mrs Smith properties where members can earn and redeem are the hotels that appear on the search right now. There is no firm date yet when booking and redemption capability is activated.
Conclusion
The IHG’s partnership with Mr & Mrs Smith looks almost identical to what Hyatt has with Small Luxury Hotels of the World. You must book through IHG to be eligible for points and limited benefits.
IHG earlier communicated that 500 properties would participate, and Mr & Mrs Smith state on their website that there are 1,200 hotels on their collection. This would mean that roughly 40% would be part of the program
It would be interesting to know if stays at this brand counts towards InterContinental Royal Ambassador qualification as Ambassador and Kimpton Inner Circle members are eligible for extra benefits.,
