Written by Rob Burgess @ Head for Points
We normally get to hear about new IHG hotels before they get anywhere near opening, but the new InterContinental Mina Al Arab resort in Ras Al-Khaimah seems to have popped out of nowhere. IHG has a bit of a problem in the Middle East. It has a lot of hotels, but no beach resorts. This […]

News in brief: IHG’s Six Senses brand takes over a high end Maldives resort This certainly came out of the blue, but it is welcome news regardless. The Kanuhura resort in the Maldives has just been sold. It seems that the previous owner was suffering financial problems and that this resort was non-core to their portfolio. […]

IHG is fixing the free night problem on the IHG Rewards Premium credit card
Written by Rob Burgess @ Head for Points
Here is an example of how commenting on HfP can (occasionally) get a problem solved. A few days ago, multiple commented about problems with the free night voucher issued with the IHG Rewards Premium (‘black’) credit card. This is an excellent credit card, possibly too good given that IHG and Creation, the issuer, pulled it […]

Which airlines let you transfer air miles INTO hotel loyalty programmes?
Written by Rob Burgess @ Head for Points
Almost all hotel loyalty programmes let you transfer you points into certain frequent flyer schemes. What is far rarer is for a frequent flyer scheme to let you transfer your miles INTO a hotel points programme. This didn’t used to be the case. If you go back 15 years, Hilton Honors had quite a few […]

How the MileValue Team Is Using Our Annual Free Night Certificates
Written by Matt Brown @ MileValue
One of the often overlooked benefits of hotels’ co-branded credit cards are the free night certificates that many come with. In exchange for an often nominal annual fee, you’re able to redeem these for a significantly subsidized (read: not truly free!) redemption if you’re able strategize these well.
With many hotel programs extending the expiration dates on these free night certificates, many of us find ourselves with a number of certificates and looming expiration dates.
