Review: Le Meridien Etoile, Paris

Written by Miles and Even More @ Miles and Even More

I checked out of the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile yesterday morning, and checked into the Le Meridien Etoile, just around the corner from the Hyatt, in the evening after a day’s sightseeing. Hyatt was kind enough to hold my bags for the duration of the day (which is a surprise in today’s world of terror threats), and I’m grateful to them for that.
The Le Meridien has standard and chic rooms as two of their base category rooms. As I mentioned in the introduction post, I booked a chic room on an award. Here’s a review of the hotel and room, but not breakfast (that didn’t come with the room, and we planned to head to the airport a little early in any case).

New use for your JP miles as Jet Airways expands relationship with Delta, Air France and KLM

Written by Miles and Even More @ Miles and Even More

In March this year, Jet Airways moved its European hub (as part of its hub-and-spoke model) from Brussels to Amsterdam, while concurrently launching services to Amsterdam. Jet Airways has also operated daily flights on the Mumbai-Paris route for more than two years now. All of these give Jet Airways access to code-shares out of Amsterdam and Paris.

So the latest news is that Jet Airways will enhance its cooperation with Delta Air Lines and joint venture partner Air France-KLM. Here’s more on this development.

New use for your Emirates miles, Sully, Defunct airlines of India, and much more

Written by Miles and Even More @ Miles & Even More

…or, The week that was – 11 September 2016.

Fifteen years back today changed the way many of us look at the world – more in the wrong way – and brought in massive changes to air travel. Think enhanced security, “random” screening, and whatever else!

Anyway, it’s been a rather slow week here at MAEM, but that doesn’t mean things aren’t happening out there in the travel, hotels and airlines space. So here’s a round up of the week that was – a summary of posts on this blog as also other things travel, aviation, points and miles that we found interesting.Hope you had a great week, and here’s wishing you the very best in the next one!

A huge change – Emirates will now allow Cash+Miles awards

Written by flyfromscratch @ Miles & Even More

Emirates, one the Big 3 Middle-East based airlines and probably the one with the worst Frequent Flyer program of the lot, has made a small change to their miles redemption program. However, Emirates will now allow Skywards (its frequent flyer program) members to book Cash+Miles award tickets, in addition to all-miles awards. My initial calculation shows that this converts into a HUGE change in value of their miles. Here’s more.

That one time when Jet Airways broke the rules…to help me out!

Written by Miles and Even More @ Miles & Even More

Many of us (and myself included) aren’t a happy lot with much of the changes Jet Airways is bringing about to the JP program. That said, I must admit (if it wasn’t apparent already), that I’m a pretty big fan of the airline and of Jet Privilege. Sure, they’ve made some flier-unfriendly changes, including Fare Choices, making JP pretty much a revenue-based frequent flier program, or the changes to partner award structures. Gone are the days of some fantastically awesome award routes for unbelievably low redemption requirements. But as with any and every other business, Jet simply reacted to the changes in the marketplace, and will continue to do so in the future.

And yet, in this post, I’d like to write about what I thought was a very “human” side of the airline.

Brussels Airlines to commence flights to Mumbai – here’s what you need to know

Written by Miles and Even More @ Miles & Even More

Brussels Airlines (SN) will commence direct flights from Brussels to Mumbai, filling in the gap created when Jet Airways chose to replace Brussels with Amsterdam as its European hub for its hub-and-spoke operations. According to this piece from the Aviation Tribune, SN is expected to commence operations in March 2017, though seats are currently not up for sale on SN’s website, indicating that this plan is probably in very early stages. Here’s a look at Brussels Airlines, and what to expect over the next few months in the specific context of the proposed Mumbai operations.

2 billion JP miles for an Award Ticket??? And some crazy math to boot!

Written by Miles and Even More @ Miles & Even More

You just can’t make this stuff up.

Vinay and I were thinking of trying out First Class on Jet Airways Mumbai to Amsterdam, once they change the configuration from the A330 they’re currently flying, to the B777 (the change is expected to take effect from 30 October 2016). So we were looking for award ticket availability, when we found this gem.

Would you believe the cost of the award ticket is…2.1 billion JP miles?
