The Universal Studios theme parks are a ton of fun for families (and adults), but they aren’t cheap to visit — especially if you take this tour. Thankfully, there are some ways to save a few bucks on a visit to Universal Studios, or at least earn some extra points in the process. One of the best and easiest ways to save money at Universal Studios is via periodic Amex Offers.
Today a new Universal Studios Hollywood Amex Offer has appeared on select American Express card accounts. There are two versions of this offer, both requiring spending of $200+ in one or more eligible transactions online at universalstudioshollywood.com by 11/30/2018 to earn either 4,000 bonus Membership Rewards points or a $40 statement credit. Since TPG values Membership Rewards points at 1.9 cents each, the 4,000 bonus points offer is the offer to utilize if you have a choice on your different Amex cards. Currently, 4,000 Membership Rewards points are worth about $76 in travel if you utilize the Amex Membership Rewards transfer partners.
I have this offer to save at Universal Studios Hollywood on a variety of my Amex cards ranging from The Platinum Card® from American Express to the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express.
Note that this Amex Offer is only valid at universalstudioshollywood.com and is not valid for purchases made in-person at the theme parks, over the phone, or through third parties, agents, or affiliate sites that link to/from universalstudioshollywood.com. It also excludes Halloween Horror Night tickets, group tickets, vacation packages, hotel bookings and ground transportation and all other Universal theme parks and properties.
If you used this Amex Offer to purchase one adult and one child basic admission ticket to Universal Studios Hollywood for this coming weekend, the normal price is $212. However, you could drop your final price to just $172 with the $40 statement credit — or you get more value than that if you earn 4,000 bonus Membership Rewards points instead of the $40 statement credit. A visit to Universal Studios still would not be inexpensive, but it would be a little bit less painful.
